The vault is open. For the first time in decades the U.S. government has made its UAP files available to the public — no clearance required.
For decades the question wasn’t whether the government had information on UFOs and non-human intelligence — it was whether they would ever let the public see it.
On May 8, 2026, they did.
The Pentagon released its first batch of declassified UAP files through a new public portal at war.gov/UFO — 162 files in total, including field reports, internal memos, pilot accounts, photos, and videos. Some date back to the late 1940s. More are coming on a rolling basis.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called the files documents “hidden behind classifications” that have “long fueled justified speculation.” Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard confirmed this is only the beginning of an ongoing declassification effort.
The official position is that nothing in the files confirms extraterrestrial contact. Those familiar with how institutional disclosure works will know exactly what that means.
This is a developing story. Our full analysis of the released files, what they contain, and what they deliberately leave out is over at ThinkAboutIt UFOs.
